Contents insurance
To cover your belongings, you should consider buying a contents insurance for your household

Basic contents coverage
A contents insurance covers damage to personal household items, such as furniture, televisions, clothes or sports equipment. Basic cover provides protection against damage caused by fire, natural hazards, water and theft at home. You can also purchase additional cover for other types of damage and risks as well.
Example: in the event of a fire in your apartment caused by a malfunction of your stove, all belongings that were affected will be covered by your contents insurance
Additional coverages
Other types of damages can be added to the basic coverages by including additional modules. The most common modules are:
-
belongings that are stolen, when you are on the go
-
costs that are incurred due to lost or stolen keys
-
glass breakage, in case you have glass furniture in your home
-
special coverage for sports equipment or mopeds
Combination with private liability insurance
Contents insurance are normally bought in combination with private liability insurance. These two insurance types are the most commonly bought insurance policies right after the obligatory health insurance. Learn more about private liability insurance here.
